Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2009 - Does it Measure Up to Gamers' Expectation?

Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2009 is not your ordinary hunting game. As one can spot from the title, it's a hunting game with a twist of the hunter becoming the hunted too. In this game, you play a hunter expert named Flint Abrahams. You will engage in an adventure around the world while hunting some of the nature's most dangerous animals.

The environments in the game are visually appealing. However, they don't behave as they would in the physical world. Your path can sometimes be blocked with a small bush where you're not supposed to have any problem of walking through. The game offers you to Hand-to-Claw Combat where you attack animals using your hunting knife or rifle's butt.

Unfortunately, you have no total control of this mode because only the AI decides when you get to use this mode. Another drawback in this game is the killing-instinct or predator-like behavior of all animals, yes including unnatural scavengers like elephants. You can find yourself being attacked by an elephant when you get too close to them, even if you didn't pull the trigger yet, it really lives the "Dangerous" part of its title. In Career Mode, you will encounter missions that don't require you to kill animals, but you still need to hunt them by using tranquilizer guns.

Furthermore, there are missions that give extremely vague objective and force you to figure them out while playing. In summary, Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2009 combines a hunting, FPS and adventure games in one. It's quite easy to play though. You don't need to plan a strategy in hunting down your prey and it only takes one or two good shots when you get to find them.
